Quick Start Guide

Upload Your Data File

Start by uploading your military unit data file to the OOB Manager.

How to Upload:
  • Drag and drop your file into the upload area, or click to browse
  • The system will show a preview of your file before processing
  • Click "Process File" to load the data into the manager
Supported Files:
  • CSV files (.csv)
  • Excel files (.xlsx, .xls)
  • Maximum size: 50MB
  • Must include required columns
First Time? Download the example file to see the expected format and required columns.
Review and Edit Your Data

Once uploaded, your data appears in an interactive table where you can review and make changes.

Editing Features:
  • Click to Edit: Click any cell to edit its contents
  • Auto Save: Changes are automatically saved
  • Visual Feedback: Edited cells are highlighted
  • Search & Filter: Find specific units quickly
  • Bulk Operations: Edit multiple rows at once
  • Column Sorting: Click headers to sort data
Important: All edits are temporary until you download the final CSV file. Don't close your browser until you've downloaded your changes.
Process and Enhance Your Data

Use the processing tools to automatically enhance your military unit data with coordinates and military codes.

Fix Lat/Long

Automatically geocodes location names to add missing latitude and longitude coordinates using online mapping services.

Check OOB

Generates NATO SIDC codes, validates data integrity, and creates military symbology icons for visualization.

Generate Units

Creates new military units using predefined templates for different domains (Land, Air, Sea, Space, Cyber).

Processing Order:
  1. Use Fix Lat/Long first if you have location names but missing coordinates
  2. Run Check OOB to generate military codes and validate your data
  3. Use Generate Units if you need to add new units to your dataset
Additional Data Management

Expand your dataset with additional files or create new units as needed.

Add More Data

Upload additional CSV or Excel files to append more units to your existing dataset. Useful for combining multiple data sources.

Generate New Units

Create new military units from scratch using templates. Choose from different domains and unit types with automatic code generation.

Download Your Enhanced Data

Export your processed data with all enhancements, edits, and generated information.

  • All your original data with any edits made

Ready to Use: Your downloaded CSV file is ready for import into mapping applications, analysis tools, or other military planning systems.
Report Issues & Get Help

Found a problem with your data or need technical assistance? Use the built-in ticket system to report issues directly.

How to Submit a Ticket:
  1. Click the Report an Issue button in the OOB Manager
  2. The system enters "ticket mode" - you'll see a blue banner at the top of your data table
  3. Click on any rows that have problems to select them (they'll be highlighted)
  4. Click the Submit Ticket button when ready
  5. Fill out the ticket form with:
    • Title: Brief description of the issue
    • Description: Detailed explanation of what's wrong
  6. Click "Submit Ticket" to send your report
What Gets Included:
  • Data from the rows you selected
  • Your browser and system information
  • Timestamp and session details
  • Current data processing state
Canceling Ticket Mode:

If you change your mind, click the Cancel button to exit ticket mode. The blue banner will disappear and row selection will be disabled.

When to Use Tickets: Submit tickets for data processing errors, incorrect SIDC codes, geocoding failures, equipment misclassification, or any technical issues you encounter.
Pro Tips for Best Results
Before You Start:
  • Review the example file to understand the format
  • Ensure your data has the required columns
  • Clean up any obviously incorrect data first
During Processing:
  • Process data in the recommended order
  • Review geocoding results for accuracy
  • Don't close your browser until download is complete
  • Use the ticket system to report any data issues

Common Issues & Solutions

Upload Problems
File won't upload:
  • Check file size (max 50MB)
  • Ensure format is .csv, .xlsx, or .xls
  • Try refreshing the page and uploading again
  • Check internet connection stability
No data appears after upload:
  • Verify file contains data rows, not just headers
  • Check CSV uses comma separators
  • Ensure required columns are present
Processing Issues
"Check OOB" fails:
  • Ensure required fields are filled (Domain, Function Code)
  • Verify domain values match supported types
  • Check for special characters in unit names
Coordinates not being fixed:
  • Make location names specific (include city, state/country)
  • Check internet connection for geocoding service
  • Try more specific location descriptions
Download Issues
Download fails or empty file:
  • Ensure data is loaded before downloading
  • Check browser download settings
  • Try processing data first with "Check OOB"
  • Clear browser cache and try again
Editing Issues
Can't edit cells:
  • Ensure data is fully loaded
  • Try clicking directly on the cell content
  • Refresh page if table becomes unresponsive
Changes not saving:
  • Changes save automatically during session
  • Use "Download CSV" to permanently save changes
  • Don't close browser until download is complete
Ticket System
Ticket mode not working:
  • Ensure you click "Report an Issue" first
  • Look for blue banner confirming ticket mode
  • Try refreshing page if mode doesn't activate
Can't select rows:
  • Verify ticket mode is active (blue banner visible)
  • Click directly on row data, not headers
  • Selected rows should be highlighted
Blue banner won't disappear:
  • Click the "Cancel" button to exit ticket mode
  • Submit a ticket to automatically exit mode
  • Close and reopen the modal if stuck
